A major accident was narrowly avoided in Patna during Vat Savitri Puja celebrations after a large banyan tree suddenly caught fire while women were performing rituals around it.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the flame from a traditional oil lamp allegedly ignited a sacred thread tied around the tree. The fire reportedly spread rapidly within seconds, triggering panic among devotees gathered at the spot.
Eyewitnesses said flames quickly engulfed a large portion of the banyan tree as women participating in the puja rushed away in fear.
Locals and authorities immediately intervened and managed to bring the fire under control before it could lead to a bigger tragedy.
Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries were reported in the incident.
