The Ten Forbidden Meats
In a drought-stricken Isan ghost town, a gaunt monk consumes the ten forbidden meats as penance, but each bite deepens his damnation. DOG begins with betrayal — he feeds temple scraps to strays while the people starve. HORSE gallops in as consequence, his lies gaining momentum he can’t outrun. SNAKE coils around self-deception as he drinks poison he calls medicine, ELEPHANT crushes him with the weight of temple duty and gold debt, and LEOPARD stains his skin with spiral rosettes of indelible guilt that no scrubbing removes. LION erupts when his roar — a visible spiral shockwave — kills a vendor, BEAR offers a grotesque banquet of all past sins during famine that he can’t stomach, and HYENA laughs from the pyre as he silently mocks grief itself. TIGER burns the Dhamma when he feeds scripture to green fire, erasing his last way back, and HUMAN ends it with the last bowl: a mirror reflecting only an infinite spiral. With each meat the monk becomes 10% more ink spiral, the temple tilts another 2 degrees, and Phi Pop and Phi Kong Koi watch as he stops being a man and becomes the drought itself — 100% spiral, 20 degrees fallen, the cycle closed.
