Structures scorched, thick smoke billows in southern California blaze
A wildfire in southern California’s Simi Valley damaged at least one home on Monday (May 18), as the blaze scorched 836 acres of land. Helicopters were seen flying in the sky of Simi Valley and dropping water and fire retardants in a bid to put out the blaze known as Sandy Fire, which has forced thousands of people to evacuate. About 500 firefighters have been deployed to put out the blaze, local media reported.
