A significant storm system is causing life-threatening flash floods across seven states in the Midwest tonight, with Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee currently under flood alerts. The Missouri River is nearing its highest levels since 2019, and water rescues are ongoing in certain areas of Missouri and Arkansas, where four inches of rain accumulated in less than two hours. The National Weather Service cautions that an additional two to three inches of rain overnight may elevate several rivers to major flood levels.
