Marine researchers have identified a vibrant and previously uncharted deep-sea habitat in the eastern Pacific Ocean, situated closer to the US shore than any similar discovery in history. Located 3,000 meters below the surface in an area thought to be lifeless, this finding features bioluminescent life forms, novel fish varieties, and enormous coral structures. Experts caution that deep-sea mining poses a significant risk to this ecosystem.
