An alarming slow-moving weather system is creating a severe flood risk across eight states in the Midwest this week. The levels of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers are approaching or surpassing historical flood levels, as the already saturated soil is unable to absorb any additional rainfall. The National Weather Service has released flood warnings that cover Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Kentucky.
