The Weather Prediction Center of NOAA has announced a Slight Risk for heavy rainfall throughout the Upper Ohio Valley, Southern Appalachians, and the Central Gulf Coast extending into Alabama for this Memorial Day weekend. The already saturated ground from previous storms is likely to increase the flooding danger as another bout of substantial rain approaches. Areas near riverbanks in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Alabama are particularly at risk. Meteorologists caution that even moderate amounts of rain could lead to dangerous flash floods in regions where rivers and streams are already elevated.
