Why do some fears feel so huge…
when they are actually very rare?
It’s the availability bias.
Your brain judges something as frequent
if it easily comes to mind.
A crash on the news, a shocking story, a viral video…
and suddenly it feels like it’s happening everywhere.
Behind this, there’s often the amygdala.
The part of the brain that detects danger
and tries to protect you.
The stronger the emotion, the more the amygdala stamps the memory.
And the more your brain brings it back quickly afterwards.
Result:
what impacts you emotionally feels more frequent… and therefore more dangerous.
Your brain doesn’t always measure reality — it mostly measures what impacted it the most.
And hypnosis can help with that!
Have you ever been caught by the availability bias too?
