Tensions in the Persian Gulf are rising once again after Iran claimed it shot down a “hostile surveillance drone” near Qeshm Island.According to Iranian state media, the drone was intercepted using the newly highlighted Arash Archer air defence system.Iran says the system is capable of detecting and destroying stealth and low-observable aerial targets.However, no country has officially claimed ownership of the drone so far.The United States has not issued any public response regarding the incident.A day earlier, Iran also claimed it had downed an Israeli-made Orbiter surveillance drone.Israel responded by saying it was “not familiar with the incident.”These developments are happening amid sensitive US-Iran nuclear negotiations and rising regional tensions.Is Iran sending a strategic warning to the world while talks continue behind closed doors?
