केरल के मुख्यमंत्री पिनराई विजयन के कन्नूर स्थित आवास पर ED की टीम पहुंचने के बाद बड़ा राजनीतिक विवाद खड़ा हो गया है। ED की कार्रवाई के विरोध में CPI(M) कार्यकर्ता सड़क पर उतर आए और प्रदर्शन शुरू कर दिया। कुछ जगहों पर कार्यकर्ताओं ने एजेंसी की टीम को रोकने की कोशिश भी की। इस पूरे घटनाक्रम के बाद केरल की राजनीति गरमा गई है। लेफ्ट पार्टियों ने केंद्र सरकार पर केंद्रीय एजेंसियों के दुरुपयोग का आरोप लगाया है
