Robert visits Aaron, promising to tell him the truth. Robert finally opens up to Aaron, describing his time in prison - how he was targeted and how Kev, once assigned as his cellmate, protected him. When another inmate assaulted Robert, Kev retaliated violently, hospitalising the man and ensuring no one else touched Robert again. He recalls finding Kev bleeding from a stab wound inflicted in revenge for that act, believing he was dying. Convinced he'd never get out or see Aaron again, Robert agreed to marry Kev when he proposed from his hospital bed. Robert insists he can't tell Kev the truth about loving Aaron so soon after the heart attack, but Aaron accuses him of lying and throws him out. Robert steps in when a drunk Aaron pressures Vinny into joining him for a night out against his wishes. Robert tells Aaron to direct his anger at him instead. Outside the pub, Aaron drunkenly lashes out, blurting to a gathering crowd that Robert is married to Kev. Villagers including Paddy and Jai overhear as Aaron shoves Robert, calling him weak and pathetic for marrying the "resident psycho" to survive prison. Robert snaps back, accusing Aaron of standing by while John ruined lives. Aaron squares up to him, telling Robert he hates him and to stay away.
