- Both appeared in an MGM tribute to actor Will Rogers in the 1937 short Lest We Forget.
- The two were friends & according to a 1961 article in Family Weekly Magazine, Taylor became a hunter after he met Gary Cooper at Sun Valley, ID, in 1939. Their occasional hunting companions reportedly included Ernest Hemingway, Clark Gable, Robert Stack & John Wayne.
- Taylor was married to actress Barbara Stanwyck between 1939 and 1952. She starred in the 1941 Howard Hawkes romantic comedy Ball Of Fire alongside Gary Cooper.
