Stack Waddy - The Lost Dandelion Jams 1969-1972(Manchester)(UK, Hard-Psychedelic-Blues Rock)
Excellent Blues Rock stuff, similar to their studio albums. Limited edition of only 400 copies on red vinyl!!
This album is a true gem for collectors of obscure 70s rock! Released in 2007, it brings together previously unreleased recordings by the band, made between 1969 and 1972, a period when Stack Waddy was in full swing, playing their raw, heavy, and uncompromising rock! This release is particularly interesting for its rarity and the content it offers, but it's important to highlight that the audio quality isn't the best, which might deter casual listeners. However, it simultaneously attracts collectors who seek authenticity and rawness in rare recordings! These unreleased recordings were supposed to be released by John Peel's Dandelion label but ended up being shelved!
This album captures moments of pure spontaneity and energy. .
History and Curiosities
Stack Waddy was a British band formed in 1965, known for their no-frills approach to rock and blues! They were a band that didn’t care about polishing their music to please radio stations, preferring a more direct and aggressive sound, almost live, with minimal production! This is evident in *Lost Dandelion Jams*, where the recordings seem to capture the spirit of the band’s improvisation and live energy!
The album is a compilation of outtakes, demos, and jam sessions that were never intended for official release at the time, which explains the inferior audio quality! However, these recordings offer an authentic glimpse into the band’s creative process, showing a rawer, more visceral side of their music!
An interesting curiosity is that Stack Waddy was known for their indifference to the conventional music market! Their leader, John Knail, was notorious for his punk attitude even before punk existed as a movement, shunning the mainstream and refusing to dilute the band’s sound to fit commercial molds! This attitude is clearly reflected in this LP, an album that, with its rough and unpolished
