Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) chief, on June 10, 2026 says the driver of the sports utility vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that injured an HPG member surrendered to authorities on June 9. Batangan said the 21-year-old driver from Marikina City, would be facing criminal charges, including abandonment of one's own victim, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to property. The HPG will also recommend revocation of his driver's license to the Land Transportation Office.
