This year, Himachal Police has doubled their heroin seizures compared to last year, confiscating approximately 2 kilograms. They've registered 154 NDPS Act cases, with the majority involving intermediate or commercial quantities, leading to the arrest of 265 individuals.
The police are targeting major distributors, including those connected to the Pakistan border. One arrested distributor had a criminal history involving 20 kilograms of heroin. These operations are disrupting the entire supply chain, with significant action taken against backward linkages as well.
This year alone, 48 individuals involved in backward linkages have been arrested, a stark contrast to the 7 arrested last year. Furthermore, 37 inter-state drug networks operating across different states have been dismantled, a significant achievement that saw minimal action last year.
Himachal Police is committed to its fight against drugs, focusing not only on penal action but also on rehabilitation. They urge citizens to report any drug-related information by calling 112, assuring anonymity for informants.
