Madison Keys Injury Update: How She Fought Back at the French Open

Madison Keys is set to compete at the Lexus Eastbourne Open this summer, aiming to become the third woman to complete a hat-trick of titles at the tournament. Only Martina Navratilova (11) and Chris Evert (3) have previously won three or more Eastbourne women's singles titles. Keys won the event in 2014 and 2023.

The 31-year-old American just finished a run at the 2026 French Open, where she reached the fourth round before falling to Diana Shnaider in three sets. She was the last American woman standing in the singles draw. She avenged a previous loss to World No. 9 Victoria Mboko in a thrilling third-round match that lasted over two hours.

Keys had to withdraw from the Strasbourg warmup tournament in May due to a left thigh injury, but she recovered in time to compete at Roland Garros.

Her 2025 season was a career breakthrough. She won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open by beating world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final. She reached a career-high ranking of world No.5 and set a record as the player with the longest gap between their first two Grand Slam finals.

Keys is currently scheduled to play the Berlin Open, the Lexus Eastbourne Open, and Wimbledon in 2026.
