Karl-Anthony Towns says Knicks title was 'healing' for New York City
Karl-Anthony Towns said the New York Knicks' 2026 NBA Finals triumph meant far more than a championship, describing the win as a moment of collective release for the city, the franchise and its former stars. Speaking at a Raising Cane's event in Times Square on Tuesday (June 16), Towns said the title helped bring "healing" to New York City and was especially emotional because Knicks great Patrick Ewing finally got to hold the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Towns said the team's resilience reflected the city itself, where "you can never quit" and fortunes can change quickly. He also pushed back on outside doubts, saying his confidence came from "the work" and the unseen hours in the gym.
