During the special session of the Senate on June 17, Wednesday, the Senate nominated and elected Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III as the new Senate President Pro Tempore. Backing the nomination were Senators Panfilo "Ping" Lacson and Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri, with the plenary unanimously voting 'aye' for the election of Sotto.
