A CCTV clip from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut has surfaced in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of seven-year-old Angadveer, capturing the child moments before he disappeared.
The footage, recorded in a narrow residential lane in Ramraj town under the Bahsuma police station limits, shows a car slowly moving through the locality. According to police, Angadveer was playing outside his home when someone inside the vehicle called him over. Investigators said the child appeared to recognise the occupant and was later seen getting into the car.
While the CCTV footage does not clearly capture the alleged abduction, it shows the vehicle passing through the area around the time the boy went missing and became a crucial lead in the investigation.
The child's family later filed a missing complaint and named Arpit Sharma, a resident of Meerapur, following which police launched an extensive search operation and formed multiple teams to trace the boy.
According to police, preliminary evidence led to Sharma's detention, during which he allegedly confessed to the crime. Investigators claimed the accused revealed that he had a relationship with the child's mother and considered Angadveer an obstacle to their future together.
Police further alleged that Sharma took the child away from his home and threw him into a canal. Search operations involving divers and multiple police teams were launched to recover the boy's body.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
