In Act 2 of Mushroom Hill Zone, enter the Special Stage ring shown in the video and hold Left on the D-Pad after either winning or losing at the Special Stage. Keep holding Left even after returning to regular gameplay and if done correctly, you'll see that the mushrooms have now turned pink instead of blue.
