In a major setback for West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, the Calcutta High Court has refused to put an interim stay on the Assembly Speaker's decision to recognize rebel TMC MLA Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state assembly. The petition filed by Mamata loyalist Shovandeb Chattopadhyay was rejected by Justice Krishna Rao, paving the way for Ritabrata Banerjee to continue in his post amidst an internal rebellion inside the All India Trinamool Congress.
