An outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes linked to requeson soft cheese, akin to ricotta, produced by Clover Hill Dairy in Mechanicsville, Maryland, is under investigation by the FDA and CDC. As of June 14, eight individuals have contracted the infection across three states, with seven hospitalized and one confirmed death. The Maryland Department of Health has revoked Clover Hill Dairy's operating license and initiated a recall of all their products. Tests revealed Listeria in six product samples. The FDA advises consumers, retailers, and restaurants nationwide to refrain from consuming, selling, or serving any products from Clover Hill Dairy. Symptoms of Listeria infection can involve fever, muscle pain, and confusion, posing a greater risk to pregnant women, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
