Thailand's government is proposing an ambitious "Land Bridge" to ferry goods between ports, instead of using a sea route in the Strait of Malacca.
The project comes at a time of global trade instability, with shipping disrupted during the Iran war in the Strait of Hormuz.
But the project would impact locals, livelihoods, and the environment, while analysts question whether it would actually be economically competitive.
