A three-car chain-reaction collision took place on the cable-stayed bridge of the Pune-bound Missing Link section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway near Borghat, causing extensive damage to the vehicles but leaving all occupants unharmed.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when a Toyota Fortuner travelling from Mumbai towards Pune suddenly applied brakes and came to a halt in the third lane.
A Hyundai Verna following the SUV crashed into its rear, while a third car travelling behind the Verna also failed to stop in time and rammed into it, resulting in a three-vehicle pile-up.
Despite the significant damage to all three vehicles, no injuries or fatalities were reported, with all passengers escaping safely.
The incident briefly disrupted traffic on the expressway before normal movement was restored.
