McPhee — McPhee 1971 (Australia, Heavy Progressive-Psychedelic Rock)

The Sydney band's only album. Released in November 1971, the record was limited to 500 copies on the small independent label Violet Holiday.red, forest green and hazy blue - such a sick psych lp from Australia with the amazing Faye Lewis on vocals. starts of strong with "the wrong time" which is a classic slice of early 70s pysch and plenty of fuzz. there's a lot of covers on here and i love their take on "southern man" but "superstar" really shines. definitely my favorite track its very syrupy and lofi with a really peaceful feeling too it. i love how the chorus vocals come in, it's begging to get sampled. there's a few misses but overall this is a nice psych album and a trippy cover for an album full of covers .tcarterw25 Feb 05 2025
