According to Ukraine's military command, Russia's troop fatalities have reached around 1,389,420 since the onset of the invasion in February 2022, with 1,370 losses reported in the last 24 hours alone. The report highlights alarming equipment losses as well, including over 12,000 tanks, nearly 25,000 armored vehicles, upwards of 44,000 artillery pieces, and 359,557 drones destroyed. While Ukraine has not revealed its own casualty figures for operational reasons, a January 2026 estimate from CSIS indicated that Ukrainian losses might be between 500,000 and 600,000. Analysts from the West emphasize that these numbers reflect the significant human toll that Russia is suffering as the conflict approaches its fifth year without a ceasefire in sight.
