A severe tornado outbreak in June wreaked havoc across the Midwest, causing significant destruction in Illinois, Indiana, and neighboring states. In Effingham County, Illinois, a formidable tornado covered over 20 miles, impacting homes, farms, and businesses. Authorities reported 14 emergency incidents related to major structural damage or collapses, but thankfully, there were no fatalities or missing individuals. The storms also generated hail larger than baseballs and wind gusts reaching nearly 80 mph, with a peak gust of 94 mph recorded in Iowa. Over 82,000 customers experienced power outages as crews worked to assess damage and remove hazardous debris.
