Slayyyter on being fatigued by algorithmic pop music: "I started to get really fatigued with what I would call a like very expensive sounding well-mixed, almost like algorithmic pop music. And even if it’s not algorithmic pop music, which like, I don’t know people can take from that what they think that means. But, just like very expensive sounding mixes and very clean vocals… it just started to feel so robotic to me that with this album I was like, I just wanted to turn the crunch up. When all the songs were getting mixed, I was kinda requested, ‘Oh, can we make things feel a little more rough around the edges or like, not so perfect.’"
