According to Ukraine's military intelligence, Russia has managed to sustain its presence in Africa by substituting Wagner with the Africa Corps, which is supported by the Russian Defense Ministry. In an interview with the Kyiv Post, HUR spokesperson Andrii Cherniak reported that this force comprises between 8,000 and 10,000 fighters and continues to aid military regimes and paramilitary groups in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. He further cautioned that Russian intelligence agencies are engaged in disinformation campaigns across at least 22 African nations, utilizing fabricated news and AI-generated material. This analysis indicates that Russia's strategy in Africa is still operational despite the downfall of Wagner.
