Norwegian fans perform 'Viking Row' outside royal palace after win against Senegal
Norway fans performed the iconic "Viking Row" outside the Royal Palace in central Oslo early on Tuesday (June 23) morning, after Norway won its World Cup match against Senegal with 3-2. After the final whistle, scores of fans walked to the palace. According to Norwegian broadcaster Tv2, the aim was to wake up King Haarald and celebrate the win with him. The broadcaster also quoted a palace spokesperson saying that the king had indeed woken up and that the royal family celebrated the win along with the rest of the country. The victory follows a 4-1 win over Iraq in their opener and takes Norway through to the knockout stage. The synchronized chant has become a hallmark of Norwegian football fans as they cheer on their team in the World Cup.
