London's Kew Gardens paint tree killed by 2022 heatwave to draw attention to 'extreme heat'
As London is set to experience record temperatures for June, Kew's Royal Botanic Gardens have painted a tree killed during a 2022 heatwave in a bright shade of red. In the summer of 2022, over 400 trees died across the site, says Sinead Marron, Head of Interpretation at the gardens. "Most of the trees were sort of removed from the landscape, but we've left this one standing as a reminder of that climate crisis that we're experiencing," she says.
