Russia is modifying its high school history curriculum to incorporate the involvement of North Korean troops who joined Russian military efforts during the conflict in Ukraine. The updated textbooks will focus on engagements in the Kursk region, where it is claimed that North Korean soldiers played a role in thwarting a Ukrainian offensive. The educational materials for 10th and 11th graders will also explore topics such as drone operations, combat strategies, and advanced weaponry utilized in the war. It is estimated that North Korea deployed approximately 14,000 soldiers, with around 6,000 casualties, prompting discussions on how the conflict will be presented to upcoming generations of students.
