Ukrainian cruise missiles have obliterated the Voronezh Semiconductor Facility located in Voronezh, Russia, which served as the leading domestic producer of guidance chips essential for Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Kh-101 cruise missiles. Satellite imagery and damage assessments following the strike have verified the complete destruction of the plant. This facility was responsible for approximately 70% of Russia's internally produced missile guidance semiconductors, a crucial alternative developed in response to Western chip sanctions imposed in 2022. With this vital resource now lost, Russia confronts a significant production crisis for its most strategically critical missile systems. The Iskander-M missiles have caused numerous civilian fatalities in Ukrainian urban areas, while Kh-101s have facilitated extensive overnight bombardments. Although the destruction of this semiconductor supply chain does not deplete Russia's current missile reserves, it considerably delays the replenishment of their diminished stockpiles.
