French researchers take on the global threat posed by mosquitos
At the Pasteur Institute, Anna-Bella Failloux spends her days working with mosquitoes collected from all over the world. Through experiments and dissections, she is trying to unravel the mystery of how diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and Zika are transmitted. “A truly in-depth understanding of the vector system will enable us to better understand it and to propose avenues for control,” explains the entomologist.
