The FDA and CDC are collaboratively investigating a widespread outbreak of drug-resistant Salmonella Typhimurium and Newport associated with moringa leaf powder supplements. As of June 2026, there have been 119 confirmed cases of illness in 36 states, including 32 hospitalizations. This resilient strain of Salmonella may not respond to conventional antibiotic treatments and has been connected to brands such as Live it Up, TNVitamins, Doctor's Pride, MOGO, and Why Not Natural. Moringa supplements, often promoted as superfoods, are extensively available in health food outlets and online retailers throughout all 50 states. On June 12, the FDA revised its outbreak advisory, adding more recalled product lots. Individuals currently consuming moringa supplements are strongly advised to visit FDA.gov/recalls without delay and to cease using any recalled products.
