Rubio denies any Alaska deal with Russia, says US ready to help end Ukraine war
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday (June 25) rejected Russian claims that Washington had failed to honor an alleged understanding reached in Alaska on Ukraine, saying “there was no agreement” between the sides and stressing that the United States remains willing to help bring an end to the 4-year-old war. Russia has accused the United States of failing to follow through on what it described as an “agreement or understanding” reached in Alaska. Rubio declined to detail the proposal, but referenced publicly reported Russian demands, including that Ukraine cede full control of the Donbas region and the city of Donetsk.
