दिल्ली-एनसीआर समेत उत्तर भारत में शनिवार शाम आए भूकंप के तेज़ झटकों से लोगों में दहशत फैल गई। दिल्ली, नोएडा, गाज़ियाबाद, गुरुग्राम और कश्मीर तक धरती हिलने से लोग घरों, दफ्तरों और ऊंची इमारतों से बाहर निकल आए। शुरुआती जानकारी में गुरुग्राम में झटकों की तीव्रता करीब 3.5 महसूस की गई, लेकिन बाद में स्पष्ट हुआ कि भूकंप का केंद्र भारत नहीं बल्कि अफगानिस्तान का हिंदूकुश क्षेत्र था। रिक्टर स्केल पर इसकी तीव्रता 5.9 दर्ज की गई, जबकि इसकी गहराई लगभग 191 किलोमीटर थी। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार अधिक गहराई के कारण भूकंपीय तरंगों की ताकत भारत पहुंचते-पहुंचते काफी कम हो गई, जिससे किसी बड़े नुकसान की खबर नहीं है। प्रशासन ने लोगों से सतर्क रहने और अफवाहों से बचने की अपील की है। विशेषज्ञों ने चेतावनी दी है कि दिल्ली-एनसीआर और हिमालयी क्षेत्र भूकंपीय दृष्टि से संवेदनशील हैं, इसलिए भविष्य में संभावित आफ्टरशॉक्स और बड़े भूकंपों को देखते हुए सावधानी बरतना बेहद जरूरी है।
