An interesting revelation has emerged about the friendship between U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the USISPF Leadership Summit 2026, U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor revealed that during a UFC event in Miami, Trump suddenly expressed his desire to call PM Modi. Even after officials informed him that it was 6 a.m. in India, Trump reportedly said that Modi would already be awake and working. However, the call had to be postponed until the next day because Trump was called on stage for the event.
According to Gor, Trump wanted to personally congratulate PM Modi after hearing about India's rapid economic growth, expanding trade ties, and the strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries. He also revealed that PM Modi has been invited to the White House, both leaders are expected to meet at the G20 Summit in Miami in December 2026, and negotiations on an interim India-U.S. trade agreement are in their final stages
