Thousands doused with wine during traditional Spanish wine battle
Armed with buckets, spray bottles and water pistols, thousands of participants douse themselves with wine in the town of Haro, northern Spain. The wine battle draws in crowds from around the world, keen to take part in the traditional festival from Spain’s leading wine-producing region, La Rioja. "Once you step inside here, you’ll get soaked; there’s no way to avoid it and there’s no trick to it," says one attendee. "You just have to get stuck in and enjoy the moment, even if it really annoys you".
