During the opening ceremony of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota, President Donald Trump drew laughter after joking about the Congressional Medal of Honor while acknowledging his sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. Referring to the prestigious military decoration, Trump said, "I see my two beautiful sons sitting there. I think I'm going to give one to myself, one to them, and we'll have a threesome." He continued, "I'll pick out one of the two and give them the Congressional Medal of Honor for something, for their genius at hunting and I'll get one for taking on 'Russia, Russia, Russia' or something." Earlier in the day, Trump had also joked, "I want to give one to myself, but they tell me and I'm not allowed to. What have I done … to deserve it and they couldn't think of anything, so I'm not happy with them today." The remarks were made during events celebrating the legacy of President Theodore Roosevelt, one of the few presidents associated with the Medal of Honor.
