Irresponsible pet ownership and abandonment, rather than hunger, are the main causes of Malaysia's growing stray animal population, say animal welfare advocates.
Speaking at the launch of The Stray Love Project: Stray Animal Management Campaign in Kuala Lumpur, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) urged greater emphasis on neutering, vaccination and responsible adoption, while Batu MP P. Prabakaran called on Malaysians to treat pets as lifelong commitments.
