I first learned about the mechanics of this particular Buddy Rich technique from a Jojo Mayer clip from the 98 Modern drummer video. In there he refered to this technique as “Buddy Rich’s secret weapon.” I was able to further develop this technique as well as my approach thanks to Jojos amazing technique DVDs which I recommended to everyone if you can get your hands on them.
