Wildfire rages in Spain's northern Aragon region
A wildfire in the municipality of Ores in Spain's northern Aragon region has burned more than 4,500 hectares, Aragon's regional minister for finance, home affairs and public administration, Roberto Bermudez, said on Thursday (July 16). Fire brigades have worked around the clock since Wednesday (July 15) in an effort to contain the flames. Bermudez said strong southerly winds expected around noon could hamper efforts to bring the blaze under control. The Aragon regional government declared a level two emergency, indicating the fire is threatening populated areas and significant infrastructure. At least five villages have been evacuated since Wednesday and parts of the A-1204 highway have been closed due to the fire.
