The federal government says it's "deeply disappointed" that authorities in Laos are not pursuing the most serious charges in relation to the deaths of two Australian teenagers in a mass methanol poisoning. 19-year-old Melbourne teenagers Bianca jones and Holly Morton-Bowles died after being poisoned at the nana backpackers hostel in November 2024. Lao officials are expected to announce they will seek charges that only attract a cumulative jail term of up to one year and a 16-hundred dollar fine.
