Shashi Tharoor Questions Lathi Charge at CJP Protest;Demands Parliament Debate on NEET Issue
ಜುಲೈ 20ರಂದು ನಡೆದ CJP ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಯ ವೇಳೆ ನಡೆದ ಲಾಠಿ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಕುರಿತು ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಸಂಸದ ಶಶಿ ತರೂರ್ ತೀವ್ರ ಆಕ್ಷೇಪ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಂಸತ್ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಾರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, "ಅಹಿಂಸಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಲಾಠಿ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವೇನು? ಲಾಠಿ ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಅಹಿಂಸೆಯ ಕ್ರಮವಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ಹಿಂಸೆಯ ಕೃತ್ಯ. ಇದರ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ತರ್ಕ ನನಗೆ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ, ನೀಟ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗಂಭೀರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಂಸತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ಸಂಸತ್ತು ಜನರ ಧ್ವನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜನರ ಕಳವಳಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಹಿಂದೇಟು ಹಾಕಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacted to the violence during the CJP protest held on July 20, questioning the use of lathi-charge against a peaceful demonstration. He said that a lathi-charge is an act of violence and asked why such force was used against non-violent protesters.Tharoor also stressed that issues like the NEET examination controversy are major national concerns and deserve a proper discussion in Parliament.
