Watch this remarkable clip where a routine walk along the river turned into a wildlife rescue after a woman and her dog discovered an injured bald eagle stranded on the riverbank.

Duane Hook from Galloway, Ohio, USA, recorded the rescue after Monica and her dog, Spencer, spotted the distressed bird on the banks of the Olentangy River. According to Monica, Spencer has a remarkable ability to detect injured wildlife without ever disturbing or attacking them, and this time he alerted her to the struggling eagle.

The footage shows Monica carefully approaching and securing the powerful bird while taking extra care around its strong wings. Although the eagle appeared to have an injured left wing, it remained strong and alert throughout the rescue.

The bald eagle was safely transported to the Ohio Wildlife Center, where veterinarians later determined it had suffered from lead poisoning and had also been struck by a car the previous day. The rehabilitation team is now caring for the bird in the hope that it can eventually be released back into the wild.

A user commented: "Great teamwork and rescue by you, Monica and Spencer. I hope to get an update and that the eagle recovers fully and quickly."

Another commented: "Everyday, ordinary people can perform extraordinary acts of bravery, kindness, or selflessness and you're one of them, my friend. Keep up the great work."
