Published in Scientific Reports, this research analyzed data from 57 brain imaging studies, focusing on conditions that affect an estimated 50 to 70 million individuals in the U.S. The study revealed common alterations in the thalamus, with parasomnias exhibiting further variations in the posterior cingulate cortex. These insights could enhance future diagnostic methods and pave the way for more tailored treatment options as researchers delve deeper into the connection between sleep and brain wellness.
