If you hear something calling your name in the Appalachian woods, noβyou didnβt.
Donβt whistle. Donβt look too deeply into the trees. Draw the curtains before dark. And if every animal in the forest suddenly falls silent, leave immediately.
The Appalachian Mountains are filled with rules. Some are dismissed as superstition. Others have been passed down for generations by people who know the forests, hollers, and remote mountain roads better than anyone.
But what happens when someone breaks them?
In the first episode of our Appalachian horror trilogy, Megan explores two chilling encounters from the mountains: a woman alone in a North Carolina cabin after carelessly whistling on her journey, and two young men in the West Virginia woods who hear a voice that should not know either of them.
These mountains are older than trees, bone, and the rings of Saturn. Their stories are just as ancientβand some warnings may exist for a reason.
What lives beyond the tree line after dark?
And what happens once it knows your name?
Join us as we uncover the frightening folklore and unwritten rules of the Appalachian Mountains.
Whatever you do, donβt answer. And donβt whistle.

The campfire doesnβt have to go out when the episode ends. Continue the conversation in our official Haunted Appalachia Reddit thread, where you can share your theories, personal encounters, local legends, and the mountain rules you were raised never to break.
