The South of England's only museum dedicated entirely to transport history was founded by Sir Garrard Tyrwhitt-Drake, a 12-time Mayor of Maidstone, who began rescuing horse-drawn vehicles as the motor car grew in popularity.
His collection led to the opening of Britain's first museum dedicated to carriages in 1946, and so, our reporter, Maisy Walker, has been down in Maidstone to take a look.
