While conducting a routine patrol for trapped seals, we encountered an adult female sea lion ensnared by commercial fishing line around her neck. The injuries inflicted by the line were severe, posing a critical risk to her survival. Utilizing a seal capture net, we successfully trapped her and removed the hazardous material. Since 2019, my team and I have rescued over 300 Cape fur seals, with assistance from Dorothy Fourie and Thilde Martin of the Namibian Dolphin Project.
